Child Theme vs. Main Fame Theme

edited October 2014 in Fame Posts: 6
I am obviously new to designing on Wordpress. I just read something that said I could lose all of my changes if at some point there is an update to the theme I am using (Fame). Should I be designing on the Child Theme instead of the Main file I uploaded for Fame?

Thanks!

    Hi there:-)

If you read this http://apollo13.eu/docs/fame/#!/modification_of_theme then you should be pretty aware what is going on ;-)

If you make changes in theme settings(in admin panel) then you wont lose anything while updating theme. BUT if you edit theme templates(code, PHP, JS) and you don't do it by plugins but you really edit files, then yes - you will lose these changes on update. That is why it is good in such case, put these changes in child theme, and use child theme of course:-)

If something is still not clear then I will explain ;-)

    With regards.
