Footer widgets problem

in Rife Posts: 36
Hi,

currently the footer is created with 3 columns/widgets. But if I add a 4th widget and also say "4 columns", it sets it extremely to the left.
In general, the widgets are not centered to the side, but also too far to the left - for 3 widgets.

How can I center the widgets to the side AND specify 4?

The picture shows 3 widgets with 3 columns:

The picture shows 4 widgets with 4 columns (currently in the customizer):

Hope you understand what I mean. :-(

Best regards from Germany
Kim

    Hello :-)

    So on your screenshot with 4 columns you still have 3 widgets only, so it has to look like that.

    Please add 4th widget, and then post a live link to your site also. I will then check if something is indeed off, as it doesn't look like that currently.

    With kind regards.
  • Hi,
    thank you for your answer. :-)

    I don't want a 4th widget at the moment, but that the 3 that are there now are simply centered to the side. What they are currently not, but sit too far to the left.

    I just didn't know how to describe it differently. Sorry if that was wrong. :-/

    Hey :-)

    I understand what you mean, however, there is no simple solution to this while keeping text alignment.

    If you would change each column into solid color instead of widget you would see that they are perfectly centered. However, if you put text inside it will create the illusion of being off to the side.

    You can try to enable the option Appearance → Customize → General settings → Footer→ Content : Style → Centered to see how much it will change the whole illusion.

    With kind regards.

  • Unfortunately, I don't really like that very much.
    I know it differently from other templates, so that the widgets adapt themselves then among themselves from the distances, all the same whether text, color or picture.

    Mh, but that's probably how it is here.
    Nevertheless, thank you for your help!

    I would love to see a live example, to confirm what you say and maybe implement some different solution in our theme.

    In both those cases widgets are fully filled with content, so you don't see empty space that you have on your page currently.

    Fill up your footer widgets the same as in those examples that you gave me and you will have a similar effect.

    Also, add center alignment for your image in the middle widget.

    Please see how your site looks when widgets are filled:

  • Only for the middle widget I can't do a single alignment. This is only possible for the entire footer:

    What kind of widget did you insert there to make it look like this?

    Do it in the widget, where you have inserted this image :-)

    I have just copied HTML by console to show you how it would look in same situation. So there are no real widgets used.

    However, one the right would be tag cloud widget :-)

    With kind regards.
  • It's just a picture widget, I can't adjust anything. :-/

    Hi again,

    I'm sorry, but the problem is still there. :-(

    I now have 2 image widgets (#1+#2) and an html widget (#3) and still it is uneven.
    I have also tried it with 3x the exact same image and even then it is uneven. :-(

    You can clearly see that the distance between the two left images is uneven.
    What could be the reason, if even at 3x the same image is uneven?

    With 2x image and 1x html widget:

    With 3x the exact same image widget:

    Currently there is also an html widget used (#3), but with the last contributions.

    Thanks a lot!
    With kind regards.

    Hey :-)

    They will not be even in any magic way, as this wasn't the intended result there.
    Each widget section has a left margin to separate the content of each widget. This alone will make it uneven.

    You can add such custom CSS to remove margin, however it can have some implications in mobile view:
    .three-col .widget {
        width: 33.3%;
    }
    .foot-widgets .widget {
        margin-left: 0;
    }
    Try it :-)

    With kind regards.
  • Hi,

    it's me again... ;-)

    Today I added a new image as a widget in the footer, and also stated that there are 4 widgets.
    Unfortunately the 4th widget is not displayed online.
    Why is that?

    An image with screenshots:

    Hey :-)

    Don't you have some cache plugin or something that might block changes?

    Do other changes in customizer show up properly on the live site?

    With kind regards.

    Hi,
    even if I disable the cache plugin, it won't work.
    All other things are displayed and taken over live, except the display of 4 widgets in the footer.

    Could this be due to the css? There is missing #3, isn't it? See picture...
    I have never changed or adapted anything there by myself!

    Hey :-)

    Are we talking about this website https://www.blickfrisch-design.de/ ?
    I don't see four widgets in the source code, only 3 are present.

    CSS is not the issue here.

    Could you please send me temporary* access to your WordPress so I could check there what is going on? Send it here on the forum via private message(click on my nick, in top-right corner you will find option "Message"). In message please add LINK to topic it applies to.

    By sending access to WordPress I mean:
    -create a new ADMIN account with a fake e-mail
    -set some password to this account
    -send me created login and password

    *temporary - please delete this account after I am done, for your safety!
  • Right, that's my side.
    In the customizer there are 4 widgets set and saved, but live he just doesn't show them.

    I create the user immediately and send it by message.

    Hey :-)

    I have used Borelabs cache → refresh cache and it showed up. Know your plugins ;-)

    With kind regards.
  • But I had already done that and it did not work for me. :-/
    This is very strange, but thanks for your help!
