Homepage Slideshow Delay
The homepage slideshow has a delay in loading. At first I thought that it may be the size of my photos but then I noticed that the theme demo has a delay as well. Is there anything I can be doing to reduce loading time/delay?
I've also really stripped down the homepage to simply a header, slideshow and a footer. Are there any js file references that I can delete in hopes of speeding things up?

Which delay do you mean? Could you describe it better?
About js files it is not possible at all because if you disable some files there could be a conlict on other pages. If you want to speed up your wordpress use css and js minificators and cache plugins.
