Removing the search bar on the main page

Is there a way to remove the search bar from the main menu?

Its not something that I need immediately and would like to know where to enable / disable it.

I do not see an option to modify the links background colour, I do see one for the sub menu...but nothing for the main menu links background colour?

Yyyyy I am confused. I thought you were asking about search form? There is option for search form in menu as I linked above named Switch on/off header search form
