Tables - Cell Spacing & Padding

I have inserted a table using the TinyMCE Advanced Plugin (a mistake perhaps?) Anyway, I am trying to format the table and when I try to increase the cell padding or spacing, the table doesn't change. I want the table to run across most of the page, but it remains confined to a small part of the screen. What would I edit or add in the CSS in order to allow a table with a lot of spacing and padding?

We haven't use this plugin. Please send me a link to page with this problem. I will try to resolve it anyway.
