changing position of photo description box and or size

Hi

we are using images that are square so sit in the middle of the screen. When we add a decription the desciption box runs horizontally over the photo. Can we change the size of the photo description box? Can we make it vertical rather than horizontal?

thanks I got it sorted, where in the css can I change the title of the picture? It has a shadow on it that I want to remove...cheers
