How do I create a static blog page

Hi,

So I can create posts, and I've created a page called "the blog" and new posts direct back to this page, but the page doesn't show the stream of posts. I don't know how to make this happen.

documentation said: Now if you want to add Blog as separate page just go to Appearance->Menus and add selected Blog page to menu.

I had, it was messing up my front page when I fixed it that way originally. After playing with it, it works now. thanks
