background all around works

I would limit a few the size of works (not one pannel but all without space between) for see the background all around, how could i do that?

I have tested few solutions and this custom CSS gives proper results:

.works-list-page #mid{
    padding: 60px 150px;
}

First number is for top and bottom, and second is for left and right.

One last question bout that, is it possible to complete the works panel ? I wanna say don't have a hole, but complete it with a black background, and still have my personnal background ?
