Problem with photos/little blue question mark.

I'm having a problem viewing uploaded pictures using "Portfolio details/Add images and Videos". But, if I use the "Upload/Insert" icon I can view them perfectly (but no control over layout like slider + Liquid). All I see are little blue question marks. We incorporate vimeo videos and stills together. I've cleared my cache, cookies, using Airlock 1.7, osx 10.6.8, checked all my internet settings in safari but to no avail! I also downloaded and tried firefox, instead of the question mark they are just solid white placeholders. The image sizes are well within recommended file size. Any thoughts?
