main content placement

edited August 2012 in Spaceship Posts: 25
I'm having trouble adjusting where the main content shows up. I want it to be higher on the page with little to no space from the menu. I can see it's because of the 100px padding in the div #mid, but there are two "mid"s in the stylesheet, both with different padding. Firebug tells me the one it's using is the one on line 288. However, in my child theme style.css, I can't get my #mid div to override the main stylesheet. It's working on other divs, but that one will NOT override.

The only way I can get it to change is by editing the spaceship theme style.css, but I want it to work in the child theme.
