WPBakery Visual Composer error?

Doing install on theme and working through the required plugin prompts. Caught up with some issue with Visual Composer. It says that I have version 4.3.5 and need version 4.8.0.1. I hit update and and it prompts me to go to settings.

An error occurred while updating WPBakery Visual Composer: To receive automatic updates license activation is required. Please visit Settings to activate your Visual Composer.

Do I need a Visual Composer license key?

Any thoughts? Will theme still work?

As explained here http://apollo13.eu/docs/thirteen/#!/installation_update_bundled_plugins_issues Please deactivate VC before updating, as they inserted some code that prevents auto updates.

Thanks. I tried to deactivate the plugin and then update but no luck. Any suggestions? I'd prefer to not have to do a full install again. I appreciate your thoughts. Marc

If you opened link I have send you, then there is explained to do it manually if deactivation doesn't help. Please try it:-)
