Header is not visible on most browsers

I know it's there because in Safari I can see it, but in Chrome and Firefox the header with logo and main menu is not visible. Also in Chrome for Android.
I tried deactivating all plugins (except Redux Framework and Visual Composer) but I found no clue about the origin of this problem.
I also have a local copy of the site and it has the same behavior so it is likely that the problem is not server related.
Please help, I have no idea why this is happening

Don't you have maintenance mode on? It hides header and footer :-)

It was exactly that. But since I could see header and footer in Safari I didn't realize what was happening.

Yeah :-) You must have been logged in in Safari, and that is why it was fine there:-)
