thanks. i got it to work but is there a way to change the arrangement and have the slier first then the text?

Yes, just change order of these lines:

echo '' . nl2br( $hp_hello_text ) . '';
if (function_exists('slideshow')) { slideshow(true, "1", false, array()); }
