Horizontal scroll on album

in Rife Posts: 33
Hi,

Is it possible to have the single album scroll horizontally without the left and right arrows?
So basically, the album takes up the entire front page (with no footer).

I hope you can help,

Best Regards,
Erik

Additionally, is it possible to have a video in the album as the first item? Have that video play, and once it's done, you can scroll/use the arrows on the sides, so make the site go horizontal.

For the record, I've just started using the theme. I imported the demo called "York".

Sorry if it's confusing, please let me know if I should clarify.

    Cheers

    Hello metex :-)

For horizontal scrolling you could use Scroller element like in this example http://rifetheme.com/horizon/

However Scroller doesn't have support for video, it works only with images.

In York Design you have Album slider as front page, and it does have support for video & yes you can make it autoplay :-)

    http://rifetheme.com/help/docs/content-management/albums-works-post-types/album-media/

So add your video as explained in above link, make it as first item and set it to autoplay.

As for arrows we can always hide them with custom CSS however they are hidding after 3 seconds when there is no mouse action on slider ;-)

    With kind regards.

Thanks for the fast and informative reply!

Is it possible to combine two albums on the front page? We would love to have a website that cannot scroll vertical on the first page (so there's only the fullscreen gallery).

Currently we've added the video to the album media and it works great. We have 3 different solutions that we want to sell, and we'd love to use the "Gallery uncover" function with 3 equally sized boxes (that together takes up a fullscreen), so that it comes right after the intial video. Is it possible to combine them like that?

I've added an image with boxes outlined, so hopefully you get what I mean.

So first, landing page with an autoplaying video and then it changes, so it shows the entire page like this:

    https://i.imgur.com/c7I7BqA.jpg

If this isn't possible, perhaps there is an alternative?

I appreciate the help very much!

    Best regards,
    Erik

I think such complex needs you will have to cover with Revolution Slider. There you could add video on first slide, and on second add 3 images with custom links.

Album features will not do such work.

Revolution Slider is included in theme by the way :-)

    With kind regards.

I'm still fairly new to this. Where can I find the "Revolution Slider"? I cannot find it under plugins or anywhere really.

To add it to the front page, should I edit the "Home" page under "Pages", or should I be doing it under customize.php?

    Cheers.

    Hey again,

Right now, I've tried to add a fullscreen video as the main element on the front page. Below it I would like to add a fullsize album (the uncover one found at %domain%/album/uncover/). How can I do this?

Plugin can be installed with theme, see this http://rifetheme.com/help/docs/installation-updating/installing-the-plugins/

If you don't see notice mentioned in documentation go to Appearance → Install Plugins

When you will make your slider you can add it to Homepage with shortcode that you can find in "Embed Slider" option. See screen shot
    image

Working with Revolution Slider can be hard at the beginning so it will be good to check their docs https://www.themepunch.com/revslider-doc/slider-revolution-documentation/

But with it you will be able to make sliders like on our rebro Design: http://rifetheme.com/rebro/

I don't think you will be able to do this right now. Bricks albums for now are only available as separate page, however I plan to add support for embedding bricks album also.
However please tell me if this album will open links or photos? Maybe we will find alternative.

    With kind regards.

I got it installed. I found a decent slider that might work the way we want it to, but it's a premium feature and the plugin is not activated. Is the license not included in the theme? Do I have to buy a seperate license for Slider Revolution?

The album should be able to open subpages depending on which picture in the album you click on. Perhaps there's an album with integrated buttons?

    Thank you!

Read explanation here what is possible when plugin is bundled http://rifetheme.com/help/docs/plugins-recommendations/slider-revolution/

If you want ready sliders from their collection then own license could be needed.
metex said: The album should be able to open subpages depending on which picture in the album you click on.
Then in this case you could create 3 albums with different featured images. Set them custom link http://rifetheme.com/help/docs/content-management/albums-works-post-types/album-options/ with Alternative link option ( http://rifetheme.com/help/docs/content-management/albums-works-post-types/album-options/ ) - this will make each album open different subpage.

Next you can add those 3 albums to your page with post list shortcode - http://rifetheme.com/help/docs/content-management/shortcodes/post-list/

In albums look option you can make those album use effect uncover http://rifetheme.com/help/docs/customizing-the-theme/albums-settings/albums-list/

I don't if you will be able to do it all, as it maybe to "many level solution" for first days with theme, but it should work.

    With kind regards.

I think the problem with this approach is that we cannot display the albums the way we want them to.

Let me try to explain - what we originally pictured was to have a fullscreen page that you cannot scroll vertical on. The landing page would be a fullscreen video. When you then scroll, it will take you sideways and our 3 different options appear (preferably with some cool hover-feature like your uncover album has). The 3 options/pictures should together take up the same amount of space as the fullscreen video you first land on does.

I hope that makes sense? I don't know if this exact scenario is possible. A big wish from our side is to be able to scroll horizontally, but I'm not sure your theme supports that :)

If the above exact scenario isn't possible, perhaps something along the lines of the "York" theme with horizontal scroll (not just the timer + arrows) would work.

Sorry for all the demands, I hope I'm not getting on your nerves! :worried:

    Cheers.

Don't worry metex. I am just sad that I can not fulfill easily your needs with theme possibilities at the moment ;-)

I understand you want to make some kind of intro and then give 3 options. None of our core theme features will be able to do it.

Revolution Slider will be best option here. Hold on, let me ask Daniel about it.

Hi Daniel, thanks for taking the time :)

I haven't found the one yet, but I did find some that could work with some tweaking (hopefully)

    Option 1: https://revolution.themepunch.com/wordpress-sidebar-slideshow/

    - with the ability to scroll sideways, this might work. As it is, you have to click on the arrows I believe. Only problem with this is that you have to add one picture per "fullscreen", so you can't get the look we were hoping for as pictured here:
metex said: So first, landing page with an autoplaying video and then it changes, so it shows the entire page like this:

Also, I fail to see the big difference between this slider and the "carousel & thumbs" album that the Rife theme came with. Perhaps it is easier to use that one, if it's not possible to adjust the Revoultion Slider to our needs.

    Option 2: https://revolution.themepunch.com/nice-clean-responsive-wordpress-theme/

    - this one could work as an alternative option. It has the 3 options we need and has the uncover feature when hovering. Unfortunately, with this we can't keep it horizontal only.

I'm not sure if any of this helps you. Perhaps there is a better slider out there that I overlooked. Any suggestions are welcome at this point

    Appreciate it a ton! Thanks!

    Hello again Erik

Ok, before I try to create a special slider, take a look at my screenshot and confirm if I'm right.

There is one problem, there is no similar scrolling effect in the Revo Slider like on our scroller and from what I see it will not be possible to get what you want in our Rife default scroller. I hope you understand ;)

    Hi Daniel!

Yes, that's pretty close to what we imagined - no title and description over the video, though (or maybe, if it can just be hidden). Also, in the second slide, would it be possible to use the uncover feature for the 3 images?

If the horizontal scroll is not possible, then the arrows and/or timer will have to do. I'm not sure which is possible.

I appreciate the help and service, this is pretty awesome!

    Best Regards,
    Erik

    Hello Erik

You can download the slider from the attachment and import it to your Revo panel.
