Layout problems, and website down after the theme update

Hi,

It's been some time since you logged in to my website and replaced the theme versions after Envato shared the wrong version of the theme accidentally. You logged in and replaced it with the correct version.
Since then my blog page is looking really weird. This is a screenshot: http://prntscr.com/j2o1qk, and this is how it's supposed to look like:http://prntscr.com/j2o3fz.

When I'm logged in and looking through admin it looks fine, but when I log out of admin and I check in incognito or normal window it looks really weird.

I tried to download the latest version of the theme today (8th of April) from Envato, but as soon as I uploaded the theme it crashed down my website. I got an error message saying "Error on wp-content/themes/fatmoon/advance/utilities/layout-parts in php"

I removed the lates version of the theme and uploaded an old version which i had as my backup and that brought the website back.
But still the blog page is looking weird. What should I do, I can't have this kind of layout for the blog, but as well I can't update the theme to see if this would fix the issue?

If you would like I can resend my logins again so you can have a look? I'm out of ideas on how to fix this, tried everything I could think of, but nothing helped.

Thanks,
Anja

    Hi Anja!

I see you haven cache plugins installed. From what I see you have 2 or more of them, while you should have at max 1 such thing installed, as they can bug each other.

I have cleared cache in WPFC and it now looks good again. Sorry for using old login you gave me!
Anyway your site it taking very long to load when not logged in, and I am guessing it could be caused by this cache plugin or something else.

Please experiment with your plugins in incognito mode, as otherwise all your visitors will leave before page loads.

    With kind regards.
  • Hi,

Excellent thanks for your help. And don't worry for logging in with old logins, that's excellent. :)

Does this theme have some caching requirements? I was using my old theme before and it's possible that must use plugins stayed from that theme, I just want to double check with you before I delete my files.

I would prefer to keep WPFC and delete following files shown on the screenshot: http://prntscr.com/j2zeyg is this something I need to keep for the theme to work or i can just go ahead and delete it?

I see there is a new theme update released today, is it safe for me to upload that version now? Will it break my site again?

    Thanks for all your help.

    Best,
    Anja

    Hey Anja :-)

We don't have any cache requirements or plugins in theme, so do as you please. Just be sure you understand how your plugins are working so you wouldn't be stuck again :-)

Update theme safely - it will be fine.

One word of caution: after you will update theme and bundled plugins http://rifetheme.com/apollo13-framework/docs/installation-updating/updating-bundle-plugins/
Be sure to check if Apollo13 Framework Extension plugin is active. If it is not: activate it again, even if it crashes at first.

    With kind regards.
  • Excellent thanks. Will do that. :)

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers,
    Anja
