Cannot change fonts

edited May 2018 in Rife Posts: 17
Hi,

my website www.matus-burritos.com is almost done.

However, I cannot globally change the theme's fonts, neither in the font settings nor in the custom css section. Changing fonts there simply has no effect on the website (of course after clearing cache ect.)

The font seems to be always attached to each single section h1, h2, h3, body, where it can be changed.

Is there anything that might over-rule font settings and CSS?

Update: I found out that the Typography section seems to rule the font style over all other modifications. Can I somehow disable this to get a custom font displayed?

Kind regards,

Thomas

    Hey there:-)

Before you will be able to get to your issue we need to solve the different thing.

Currently your page is served via https, however, file user.css where font definitions are, is served by http and cause of this it is blocked by the browser. I suspect it can be a cache issue.

I would recommend switching off any cache plugin until you are done with all changes in theme/layout settings, cause it makes a lot of mysterious issues.

I can see this is blocked in FireFox as not logged in user.

    With kind regards.

    Hi Air :).

mh, the https vs http behaviour sounds really strange. Groundsite cache plugins are switched off now.

Note that currently no CSS is injected as I was trying to change the font with the 'Font settings' first which already is not recognized.

I was also looking into your reported issue with the Siteground support. They claim it is the theme that is causing trouble. So, honestly, I currently have no idea what to tackle first :). Actually they recommended me to try another theme, which would be my least preferred solution. But also my header frequently breaks (see screenshot). Currently I don't know what's cause and what's effect.

I also from time to time get this error message in wp-admin:

Warning: Illegal string offset 'response' in /home/matusbur/public_html/wp-content/themes/rife/advance/rife.php on line 649

This is fixed in update that we will release today - thanks for being vigilant :-)

It is exactly issue of the user.css file being served by http, as it is bloked by browser then when site is served by https. In this file are all the settings that you have made in theme settings. So if it is not loaded, nothing will work as it should ;-)

To sum up: font & header issues are caused by lack of styles from user.css file. Iam almost sure it is bugged cache issue, that can happen even after you turn off cache plugin. So we have to solve this. Don't bother your hosting support about this ;-)
