Portfolio Items distorted

when i select a portfolio item, it is displayed as tall and narrow... However, if i click on it, it's displayed correctly in the pop-up. Can you let me know if i'm doing something wrong? thanks

when this portfolio item is selected, the image is very narrow. It's not happening to the other two items, however. Let me know if you can tell what I'm doing wrong. thanks!
