Issue with Simple WP Membership Plugin and Sliders

edited December 2019 in Rife Posts: 2
Hi,

I've been using Simple WP Membership Plugin for Sliders and Galleries for specific clients only and this worked well a long time.

But now with rife pro even if not logged in, the slider is shown public (every user, that opens the link for the album.
below the slider there is the info that you need to login and the link to the login page. but the slider doesn't care and is accessible / usable completely.

I´ve created one album to show that issue https://www.loveneverfails.photography/album/album-florian-viktoria/

cheers
Kim

    Hey Kim :-)

As I don't know this plugin at all you will have to explain to me how it should work in more details.

    1. I suspect it should block a user from viewing the album if it is "locked" with this plugin, right?
    2. In case of album that you have linked it doesn't work currently?
    3. I have checked a different album https://www.loveneverfails.photography/album/album-benny-weronika/ and it seems it is blocked as it asks me log in. Should it work like this?

    With kind regards.
  • Hey,

3 out of 3 right. that’s impressive. I didn’t even recognize it’s working on that old site! That one was created with the old photon theme - I can’t make it work with new created sites / albums.

    Cheers

    Hey :-)

Could you please send me temporary* access to your WordPress so I could check there what is going on? Send it here on the forum via private message(click on my nick, in top-right corner you will find option "Message"). In message please add LINK to topic it applies to.

By sending access to WordPress I mean:
-create a new ADMIN account with a fake e-mail
-set some password to this account
-send me created login and password

*temporary - please delete this account after I am done, for your safety!

    Hey Kim :-)

It seems that I have found out the solution.
In this album that I have linked earlier, you have set the page template to Elementor Canvas. I did the same for my test album here https://www.loveneverfails.photography/album/air-test/

It looks that the default theme template for albums doesn't work with this plugin, as in Albums the main text content(from the editor) is secondary, and because of that plugins/WordPress hooks can not block rendering of the Album with those hooks. This is because Albums are focused on photos, that are not added by the main editor.

However, when switching to Elementor Canvas it removes the theme logic for the Albums template.

Please check if this works now fine - please check if album is displayed in good way after logging in.

If not, then you should try what is below.

You could also try a different way of building this, by using normal pages.

You could do it like this:
    1. Create a new page named "Benny" for example.
    2. Lock it with WP Membership Plugin.
    3. With using elementor, embed album slider/bricks by using theme widgets https://rifetheme.com/help/docs/content-management/elementor-widgets/
    4. If you would like to still use classic Albums list page, you can redirect each album to such created page, with Alternative link option in each album in Album details → Albums list https://rifetheme.com/help/docs/content-management/albums-works-post-types/album-options/

I have made such sample page here https://www.loveneverfails.photography/air-test/

    I hope that helps.

    With kind regards.
