Albums Categories in WP admin panel

Happy New Year first of all!

I'm trying to understand the need of "Albums Categories" within the WP admin panel.

PhotoProof comes with Gallery, Scroller and Slideshow. I've tried to understand the feature, but I'm not sure if I did. Is that to filter within the general overview of all my albums (in case I would use such an overview eventually)?

This question came up, as Google crawled such categories and now displays me at some of its search results output entries nonsense, as I haven't used that feature since today on my site.

For instance I haven't created this page:
https://lange-grumfeld.photo/de/genre/scroller-de/

I've flagged the 'album categories' to 'draft' now and added via Yoast SEO, that this page shouldn't be crawled. Nevertheless upon clicking the Google result, the page is loaded. I would have expected it's now receiving a 404, shouldn't it?

PS: Addition. Found an option in Yoast SEO to deactivate album categories in search engine. However, given the other problem with the credential page (see my other thread), Yoast SEO needs to be deactivated during normal operational, which means this feature isn't available. May I instead delete the album categories instead?

Yes, like here for example https://rifetheme.com/cropps/albums/

For me it is 404. If you are logged in you will see this page even if it is draft.

You don't have to use Album categories at all. Just delete all the categories :-)

Yepp, was impatient yesterday and went the risky way and deleted it.

Now things are fine.
