layout options for work items
What is the purpose of the right and left aligned options ? I am just getting blank unusable space next to it https://snipboard.io/KIxafA.jpg
It would be better if there was a way of having the works media brick on the left (fixed position and clickable to open lightbox) and on the right of it, have the description and works info and make it scrollable. https://snipboard.io/JjLp5R.jpg

It is the same option as for pages. Left and right were created to show the background image of the page if it is used. It goes long back to the past of our themes.
I like your idea about the improvement or rather new layouts. However, in reality, both sections would have to be scrollable, as there is no limit on how much media will the user use.
This would create much more edge cases that someone would have to take into consideration, while preparing such layout.
