BASIC INSTALLATION QUESTION (YES I HAVE READ THE OTHER 'BEFORE YOU..' AND 'INSTALLATION' THREAD)

To help me install Hypershot, I looked at this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Yv4cvLQqCXQ#!, however, next to ‘manage themes’ there is no ‘install themes’, in my wordpress account.

Then Wordpress says, “Because of the way WordPress.com’s technical infrastructure is designed, we are not able to support uploading of custom WordPress themes on our service.”

I know it will be something basic, the problem is that I'm familiar with other blogs rather than Wordpress.. so sorry and thanks in advance for your help.

wordpress.com, ehhh. I don't have much experience with their accounts, but I know there is some issues with them. Do you have any FTP access to this account? If yes you can follow http://apollo13.eu/docs/hypershot/#!/installation_update_install -> Upload it via FTP(safer)

We provide 220+ themes (and adding more every day) which you can customize, but you cannot upload a custom theme

So you have to setup your own wordpress installation instead of using free one.

Thanks for your help/time.

When purchasing this theme on Themeforest, it was under this category:
Home \ Files \ WordPress \ Creative\

Therefore I was under the impression it was a template customised to work with Wordpress. Is this assumption incorrect?

Is there a better way to build my Hypershot site?

I'm clearly more novice than I thought. I have installed themes before on tumblr using code etc and never had a problem before..

Hello.

As I have cite in previous post, you can't upload themes to place where you have setup your account and it has nothing to do with Hypershot theme.

If you read link what I send you and dig some more you should understand then wordpress.com is not part of wordpress.org. First one provides free hosting for wordpress with their limitations, and second build wordpress software.

I assume that until now you have used some free blog services like blogspot, tumblr or something.

In case of wordpress you need your own server, or FTP space where you can upload
whole wordpress and the theme.

Also you can try to search for other free wordpress hosting that allows uploading themes(I don't know is there any).
