Which is the best size?

  There is no best size, cause as you can imagine, it will be viewed on lots of different resolution and different view ports and image will be stretched to full width, or height. Check Adding Album on http://apollo13.eu/docs/spaceship/#!/adding_album to get more info. What I could personally advice is to use only vertical or only horizontal images in one album to make better impression and to make use of Fit images option.
