All newly added pages appear as "Uncategorized" what have I paid you 80 EUR for to have the Rife Pro

Dear Wordpress Managers;
I have paid your company 40 euros to upgrade from Rife to Rife Pro Theme, another 40 EUR to qualify for the online support you provide in this forum: it is rather offputting to be recommended to go through 460 (!) Rife related questions in this forum before posting my own actual question: Why does your product seem to work so badly in so many senses I am ready to enumerate with screenshots? The many questions raised in this forum leave also give me the impression: conflict over conflict in your product?

Insofar, I have been able to patch them all up using online recommendations outside this forum. As many times for the last two months of me working on my website to add a new language, things do NOT work as described in your online documentation.

As a specialised translator and interpreter, I would be ashamed to sell such a product to my clients, with bugs??//conflicts?? everywhere: Digitization Gone Wrong?
So, my very latest (only the latest,-) problem with WP version 5.5.3. Rife Pro theme is that all newly added pages appear as "Uncategorized". Please do not repeat as an "answer" what I have already read in your online documentation: what you write there, does not make the "Uncategorized" label go away from pages I newly add, cloning them from already existing ones.

Also, my menu structure seems to be correct, with a Main Menu containing all submenus.
I am sorry but this is not at all the product I expected: I am not a "computer woman" but, as translator and interpreter in the 21st century, fairly versed with getting my head around Computer Assisted Translation (CAT-Tools) applications and their online documentation.
Thanks a lot in advance for your hopefully prompt support.
Have a nice day,
Barbara Werderitsch

    Hey Barbara :-)

Sorry that you feel this way about our theme, this is really not the experience we are looking to give our customers.

From my experience with answering all the topics about Rife and issues, hardly ever there is a direct fault in the theme, however, it happens.

WordPress is a collection of moving parts, like various hosting in very various configurations, many plugins that each user use, in various version again, and of course the theme. All those things can create conflicts on any level, and it is impossible to know beforehand what could fail for a particular situation. I don't even want to start about all the cache issues ;-)

And this is where our support comes in, to solve any of those thousand possible and to help you move forward.

We recommend to at least make a search for a related topic, as it will be much faster often, but it is not required. We understand that everybody is in hurry.

Anyway, you didn't come here to read me to explain myself, but to solve the issue, so lets go :-)

Could you explain me with a live link or a screenshot what do you mean by this:

Do you mean new Posts or literally Pages. In WordPress all new posts by default have the "Uncategorized" as the default category assigned(it is not the theme doing it).

You can change the category of the post as explained here https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/rename-the-uncategorized-category/

If I missed what you were looking for, please share a link or a screenshot of what you are experiencing.

    Hope this will help Barbara!

    With kind regards.

  • Dear Support, thanks for prompt answer. You ask:
"Do you mean new Posts or literally Pages. In WordPress all new posts by default have the "Uncategorized" as the default category assigned(it is not the theme doing it)."
I mean PAGES added as shown on first screen shot.
My second screenshot shows my page "Translation & Interpreting Services", showing as "Uncategorized".
My third screenshot shows the "Translation & Interpreting Services" showing correctly as page to be added from left side to English menu on the right side. You can see it is added (see "Original:") and that it its navegation tag is TRANSLATION & INTERPRETATION. You can also appreciate the menu structure of the English menu on this screenshot.
My 4th screenshot shows the main menu "PRINCIPAL" which is set as navegation menu and contains the menus "ESPAÑOL; DEUTSCH; ENGLISH".
My 5th screenshot show that all three menus ( "ESPAÑOL; DEUTSCH; ENGLISH") show correctly on my site when it is live.
I had already tried what is described here https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/rename-the-uncategorized-category/ , although this articles is about Posts, not Pages. I have tried to apply "Now visit Settings » Writing page. The first option on the page is to set a default post category. "
My sith screenshot shows that I am NOT able to follow the renaming procedure as recommended above because nothing happens when I click on "Uncategorized" button.
    Thanks for your help.

    Dear Barbar:

I think the issue is somewhere else, as by default Pages doesn't have any categories.
I believe that some plugin has enabled those, and now it is creating this confusion.

Do you see any plugin that could add such a thing?
Maybe you want me to take a look at your installation?

If yes, please send me temporary* access to your WordPress so I could check there what is going on. Send it here on the forum via private message(click on my nick, in top-right corner you will find option "Message"). In message please add LINK to topic it applies to.

By sending access to WordPress I mean:
-create a new ADMIN account with a fake e-mail
-set some password to this account
-send me created login and password

*temporary - please delete this account after I am done, for your safety!

    With kind regards.
  • Dear Support, thank you, before I make the effort of creating a fake e-mail for you to have a look at it, please find attached two screenshots showing all my plugins: please see that some are NOT activated.

PD: I do not know whether any of the plugins might lead to pages showing as uncategorized: I read user documentation and apply it, but have no programming skills. Tx.

    Thanks for the screenshots!

You don't have many plugins active, that is good :-)

Also, I don't see any plugin that could be adding this feature. However, some plugins have so many features, that is hard to be sure without checking if deactivation will change anything.

However, maybe it is a wrong lead.

Maybe what we see is only a widget, that is listing categories of the posts, and it is by mistake added to the sidebar there.

Could you check in the Widgets menu( https://rifetheme.com/help/docs/basic-setup/widgets-sidebars/ ), if any sidebar has added a widget named "Categories"?

Could you share a live link to your website, so maybe I will be able to catch quicker what it is and from where it is coming(you can do it by a private message if you like).

    With kind regards.
